PSHE Policy

West Park Primary School believes that the education of the whole child is vital for them to be able to achieve their full potential. We encourage all of our pupils to play a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community through class & school councils, fundraising events, supporting nominated charities and involvement in community activities.

Personal, social and health education (PSHE) helps to give children the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives. Throughout their time at our school, they will be provided with a range of activities that will develop their personal and social skills. The school uses the widely respected SEAL resources to explore social and emotional aspects of life under the headings: New Beginnings, Getting On and Falling Out, Say No to Bullying, Going for Goals, Good to Be Me and Relationships and Changes.

Aspects of PSHE also include drug education, sex and relationships education, healthy eating and physical activity and emotional wellbeing.  Children are also taught vital life skills such as first aid and road safety.
